Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) • June 1-4, 2019

The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is designed for early to mid-career professionals and faculty leaders who have an interest in and talent for higher education leadership. Therefore, the goal of ELP is to provide participants with an understanding of the various aspects of the academy and how they relate with each other. The first portion of the program, a 3½-day seminar, offers participants the opportunity to explore many facets of the academy; to engage in a national dialogue with experienced leaders and experts in higher education; and to develop a network of colleagues from around the country. The program also includes completing a leadership self-assessment, development of a plan designed to help participants achieve their leadership goals and creation of an action plan to complete a project/initiative at their home campuses during the following academic year. The second portion is completing the project/initiative

Candidate packets must include nomination letter signed by candidate’s immediate supervisor or academic manager  and application from the candidate. Complete candidate packets must be submitted electronically by 12:00 midnight Eastern Time, April 5, 2019. Enrollment in the Emerging Leaders Program is limited to 25 participants.

Nominating a candidate for ELP includes the responsibility to mentor the participant and provide guidance and advice on the project, initiative or assignment.

If accepted, an applicant must:

  1. Commit to participate in all of the scheduled sessions beginning at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 through Tuesday afternoon, June 4.
  2. Following completion of the seminar portion of the program, commit to participate in check-ins with the ELP Coordinator and nominating mentor regarding the status of assigned project/initiative.
